Planned availability: January 2028
The Complete GCSE Chemistry Mastery Programme provides a structured two-year pathway through the entire GCSE Chemistry course.
Students progress from the essential foundations of Year 1 through to advanced topics in Year 2, developing the conceptual understanding and analytical reasoning required for success in
GCSE examinations.
The Complete GCSE Chemistry Mastery Programme is organised as a structured two-year pathway that develops understanding step by step across the entire GCSE Chemistry curriculum.
Students begin by building strong conceptual foundations before progressing to more advanced chemical ideas and examination preparation.
Year 1 – Foundations of Chemistry
The first year focuses on the essential principles that underpin all areas of chemistry. Students develop a clear understanding of atomic structure, chemical bonding, chemical reactions and quantitative chemistry.
Key areas include:
• Atomic structure and the periodic table
• Ionic, covalent and metallic bonding
• Chemical structures and properties of substances
• Calculations involving masses and moles
• States of matter and separation techniques
• Acids, bases and neutralisation reactions
• Electrolysis and chemical changes
• Extracting metals and industrial chemistry
• Transition metals, alloys and corrosion
• Quantitative analysis and chemical calculations
By the end of the first year students have developed a strong conceptual foundation that supports the more advanced topics studied in Year 2.
Year 2 – Advanced GCSE Chemistry
The second year builds on these foundations and introduces more complex chemical ideas as well as extensive examination preparation.
Key areas include:
• Groups in the periodic table and chemical trends
• Rates of reaction and factors affecting reaction speed
• Energy changes in chemical reactions
• Fuels and energy resources
• Earth and atmospheric chemistry
• Organic chemistry including hydrocarbons and polymers
• Alcohols and carboxylic acids
• Qualitative chemical analysis and tests for ions
• Bulk and surface properties of materials including nanoparticles
Throughout the second year students increasingly work with examination-style problems designed to develop confidence in tackling demanding GCSE Chemistry questions.
The aim of the programme is not only to prepare students for examinations but to develop a genuine understanding of chemistry that will support further study at A-Level and beyond.
